Ediciones Mar del Plata Ltda. was founded in 1983, mainly as a print shop, and with the objective of printing good quality books, which would last for a long time and at a reasonable price. This is one of reasons why our clients have remained faithful through the years, some of them for 15 or even 20 years, such as Ediciones Unicornio, Ediciones Cerro Manquehue and Gran Logia de Chile.
Our business has developed in such a way that we have increased the services we offer our clients, and we now also distribute our client’s books, which is a most relevant fact for them and one which has contributed to increasing the value of our services.
We are still a small publishing house, despite our years of experience, but this enables to offer a service that is mainly oriented at the quality of our products: we are interested in books as a vehicle of ideas that will last throughout the years, books that 30 or 50 years after being published can still be manipulated with the certainty that they won’t fall apart, and which are also easy to read and have an elegant layout.
Among the authors whose works we have published, we can name: Gerardo Larrain Valdés, a historian who has published a History of Chile in 5 volumes (a 6th one is being prepared); poets like Antonio Campaña, Jorge Jobet, Fernando González-Urízar and Elisa de Paut; narrators like Reinaldo Edmundo Marchant, José Simón, Germán Liñero and Samuel Urzúa; professor Jaime Campusano, who has written three books dedicated to Chilean Spanish, and the very interesting book about the conflict in the Middle East, El conflicto palestino-israelí, written by Dr. Alfredo Thumala.
The books we now present are part of our catalogue and represent our most important current cultural contribution.
