History of the Fondo de Cultura Económica
When founded this house, our original intent was to disseminate basic texts in economic matters. But it was soon realized that our borders should be extended to all areas of knowledge, nationally and internationally. Thus, we reaffirm our own culture in all disciplines, while we remain attentive and receptive to the ideas of all peoples.
The Fondo de Cultura Económica (CFE) is distinguished by being a publisher of comprehensive approach in which the authors, Spanish and foreign languages, have a chance to present their ideas with full respect for their freedom of expression. Therefore, in the course of the years have been published works of many and very bright talents, which make up the ever-present catalogue of our company, one of the richest and most varied of Latin America.
The history of the CFE dates back to 1934, when Daniel Cosío Villegas, one of the greatest Mexican intellectuals of the twentieth century, saw the need to create a basic library in Spanish aimed primarily at students of the newly founded National School of Economics.
Area of expertise: Books of Social Sciences, Narrative, Poetry, Child
